Mary Beale School of Needlework
LESSON 3
(The needlework chart for this lesson corresponds with Lesson 9 of the School)
In times when you feel great love, friendship, or complete gratitude, it is NEVER an effort to express that feeling to others. My daughter is a nurse in the Chicago area and she has been working very long hours after the outbreak of the virus. Her daughter, my granddaughter, wrote her a note thanking her for taking care of all the patients. It meant so much to my daughter.
In this particular lesson, I wanted to provide three different drawings children could use to color and then send with notes to friends, or maybe nurses and Doctors in hospitals expressing their gratitude. Maybe they miss seeing their friends, or grandparents and want them to know that. Notes with sentiments (and coloring!) are always treasured!
These three drawings are all done by my hand. I am not a computer…I have never liked computerized drawings. They are too perfect. As people, our creations while striving to be accurate, lovely, and not sloppy, are not perfect. I think that is why I am drawn to samplers. They are real. Many have some flaws, but they are executed with the intent of being the best the stitcher could produce.
Whip out the crayons, or if you put this on water color paper, water colors (or watercolor pencils), and send out expressions of love, friendship, and gratitude! I guarantee it will be greatly appreciated!
