Mary Beale School of Needlework

Lesson 5

(The needlework chart for this lesson corresponds with Lesson 8 of the School)

Games

My family always used to play monopoly when the power went out. It  was really fun for awhile, but usually it didn’t last very long. One of the kids always got greedy with their properties, or someone else got mad and decided they weren’t going to play. We continued to play the game though through the years of vacations and power outages.

Well, I am feeling like we need some games to play to “mix up” our quarantine time at home. In the past, my grandchildren and I have invented several fun games out of necessity because we couldn’t find the directions, or some of the pieces were missing. We always had fun playing our version of the games. I decided to invent a game for kids to play at home. I entitled it “QUARANTINED! The game of Chores and Cookies, OR Go To Your Room!!” You can color the squares and all the chores! My husband and I played it last night. He won because he folded the laundry! I had to go to my room twice because I did not pick up the toys!

I hope it will be a fun game!

In the lesson that goes with this, you will see that games have been around since almost the beginning of time. I like the simple games because they are really more fun to play! Who would have ever thought that I would not pick up the toys twice and my husband would fold the laundry and got a cookie for it… that doesn’t happen in the real world!
